After an unusually high-scoring opening night loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Predators got back to playing their brand of hockey at home on Thursday night. Behind 23 saves from Juuse Saros, the Predators defeated visiting Seattle 3-0. The win was the 21st career NHL shutout for Saros and also marked the first victory for Andrew Brunette as the Predators' head coach.

“Once you’re a player and having the Predator uniform, even though you’re not a player (anymore), you feel like you’re still a player and you still get the jitters and the excitement,” Brunette said. “To get a win, it makes it extra special.”

The game was scoreless after one period before Colton Sissons got the Predators on the board in the second on a breakaway goal. Nashville added two more goals in the third period, one each by Gustav Nyquist and Juuso Parssinen. Saros was solid in net for Nashville and once again looked like the goalie that should be one of the favorites to take home the Vezina Trophy this season.

Nashville returned to form in game two as they played quality defense and kept the Kraken at bay on the power play. Last season, the Predators finished just 26th in the league in goals per game and 28th on the power play. They have scored three goals per game through two games thus far. On the power play, they are just 1-for-7 thus far. Nashville wins primarily with quality goaltending. Last season, the Predators were 12th in goals allowed but an even more impressive fourth in save percentage led by Saros. He has turned away 52-of-56 shots thus far this season. The Predators were sixth in the NHL in penalty killing last season as well. They are 2-for-7 on penalty kills thus far this season.

Key Injuries: No Injuries to Report.
