Atlanta was blanked for the first 14 innings of this series but rallied with five runs in the final three frames of Game 2 to steal a win and square things up heading to Philadelphia. The Braves have their work cut out for them in an unfriendly environment: they lost both games to the Phillies here last year in the NLDS. On Monday night, Atlanta finished with only four hits but managed to come up with the victory. Travis d’Arnaud (his first) and Austin Riley (his first) each went deep in the victory with Riley’s two-run blast coming with two out in the eighth inning to give the Braves their first lead of the postseason. Max Fried didn’t factor in the decision as he threw four innings, allowing three runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts. A.J. Minter (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless eighth inning, allowing no hits with one walk and no strikeouts. Raisel Iglesias worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his first sav e of the postseason.

The Braves have not officially named a starter for this contest but it could be Bryce Elder making his first postseason start after logging 31 regular season starts here. He finished the year 12-4 with a 3.81 ERA, a 1.277 WHIP, 63 walks and 128 strikeouts over 174.2 innings of work. Elder didn’t factor in the decision in his last start, which came at home against the Cubs back on September 26. He threw 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with four walks and two strikeouts in a game the Braves rallied to win 7-6. In his last three starts, Elder has no record with a 9.49 ERA, a 2.27 WHIP, nine walks and eight strikeouts over 12.1 innings of work. Elder makes his third career start against the Phillies in this contest. He has no record with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.219 WHIP, seven walks and six strikeouts over 10.2 innings of work. Elder didn’t factor in the decision in his lone career start at Citizens Bank Park, which came on June 23. He threw seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in a game the Braves went on to win 5-1 in 10 innings. This marks his first career postseason appearance.
