Louisiana Tech ML over Middle Tennessee State (+130)

There is not a whole lot of good to say about Louisiana Tech – except this: it gets to face Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs are bad, but the Blue Raiders are even worse. MTSU is 1-5 SU with a win only against Murray State. It has lost its last 2 games to Western Kentucky and Jacksonville State by 21 and 15 points, respectively. The defense has been especially bad, allowing 31, 31 and 45 points over the past 3 outings. Although the Bulldogs are nothing special, they should have a good chance to capitalize on this opportunity. Running back Tyre Shelton has scored at least once in all 4 of his games this season (5 TDs in total) and has delivered 3 consecutive 100-yard rushing performances. I expect him to run all over Middle Tennessee State in this one. Give me Louisiana Tech at plus money.

Liberty -9.5 alternate spread over Jacksonville State (+134)'

This a crucial contest with both teams 3-0 in Conference USA. Liberty is undefeated overall (5-0) and has covered the spread in all but 1 of its games. Chances are good that the Flames will remain perfect following Tuesday's showdown. Both squads love running the football and Liberty is more effective in that department, averaging 5.7 yards per attempt. Jacksonville State is generally stout defensively against the run, but the good news for Liberty is that it also has no trouble moving the ball through the air. Quarterback Kaidon Salter boasts an 85.7 PFF passing grade, which ranks in th e top 25 nationally among qualified FBS quarterbacks. I think the Flames can go at the Gamecocks' defense in a number of directions and score enough points to win by double-digits.'
