A pair of programs from Conference USA open up week seven of the college football schedule as they collide in the Volunteer State. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are on the road as they make the trip to face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Tuesday night. Louisiana Tech fell 35-28 at home to Western Kentucky Thursday night in their previous contest, failing to cover the line as a six-point underdog. Middle Tennessee fell apart in the second half and lost 45-30 at home to Jacksonville State, losing outright as a 2.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the schools, the Bulldogs own a 5-2 advantage, including a 40-24 home win in the most recent meeting as a 2.5-point underdog on November 5, 2022.

Louisiana Tech rallied in the second half but dug too deep a hole against Western Kentucky as they suffered their third loss in four games. The Bulldogs dropped to 3-4 overall and stand 2-1 in conference play with the defeat so they look to even their overall mark here. Against Western Kentucky. Louisiana Tech opened the scoring but gave up 35 unanswered points to trail by 28 at halftime. The Bulldogs held the Hilltoppers scoreless in the second half but ended up falling a touchdown short in the contest. Louisiana Tech was outgained 426-397 in total offense and turned the ball over twice while forcing just one takeaway. The Bulldogs did win the first down battle 19-14 and controlled the clock by a 33:57 to 26:03 margin only to fall short.
For the season, the Bulldogs are 74th in the nation in passing offense with an average of 229.3 yards per contest while they stand 73rd in th e nation in rushing offense with 150 yards per game. Louisiana Tech is 81st in the FBS in scoring offense with an average of 27.1 points per contest while they are 84th in scoring defense by allowing 27 points per game. Tyre Shelton leads the team with 58 carries for 436 yards and five scores on the ground this season. Keith Willis Jr. (33 carries, 240 yards, three TD) and Charvis Thornton (31 carries, 153 yards, TD) have been in the mix on the ground as well. Smoke Harris has reeled in a team-leading 48 passes for 485 yards and three scores this season. Cyrus Allen (19 grabs, 349 yards, two TD), Kyle Maxwell (seven catches, 147 yards, TD), Tru Edwards (11 receptions, 136 yards, TD) and Nate Jones (13 grabs, 112 yards) have all gone over the century mark in receiving yards. Jacob Barnes has hit all 21 extra point attempts and eight of 10 field goal attempts with a long of 46 this season. Buck Buchanan hit his lone extra point attempt but misfired on both field goal attempts on the year.
