Miami carries a top-25 ranking and an undefeated record after three weeks. Is it time to start considering the Canes as legit threats to win the ACC in 2023?

Miami scores 44.7 points per game (11th) and averages 511.0 total yards (15th), including 322.0 passing yards (13th) and 189.0 rushing yards (38th). The defense allows 14.3 points per game (26th) and 271.0 total yards per game (19th), including 210.7 passing yards (70th) and 60.3 rushing yards (8th).

The Hurricanes beat the Wildcats by 41 points last week. In its biggest test to date, Miami defeated Texas A&M 48-33 behind quarterback Tyler Van Dyke's career-high five passing touchdowns. Junior WR Brashard Smith also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a score, helping the U pull away in the third quarter.

“Players are stepping up,” said receiver&#x A0;Xavier Restrepo, who hauled in six passes for a team-high 126 yards. “Last year, it felt like the coaches had more energy than the players. This year, we all sat down the first day of spring training camp and were like, ‘This is our team, not the coaches’ team.'”

The Hurricanes are deep and talented on the defensive line and at safety. Linebackers Francisco Mauigoa and Wesley Bissainthe are two players worth keeping an eye on, as well. Miami hired Marshall defensive coordinator Lance Guidry to take the defense to the next level. The Thundering Herd were fourth nationally against the run, fifth in takeaways, and number one at getting stops on third down.
