New Mexico State Aggies (2-2) vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-3)

Week 4 of the 2023 college football season will close down on Saturday, September 23, with the non-conference battle at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu, Hawaii, so here’s the best New Mexico State vs. Hawaii betting pick.

These two schools lock horns for the third straight year, and New Mexico State aims for its second straight victory over Hawaii. The Aggies head to Honolulu as 3-point underdogs. The Rainbow Warriors are -150 moneyline favorites, while the totals sit at 57.5 points.

The New Mexico State Aggies improved to 2-2 SU and ATS on the season following a 27-17 road victory over the New Mexico Lobos in Week 3. The Aggies, who opened their 2023 campaign with a 41-30 defeat to Massachusetts in week zero, upset the Lobos as 2.5-point underdogs even though they had nine 1st downs fewer than their rivals (26-15).

New Mexico State racked up 397 total yards last Saturday while rushing 30 times for 177 yards. The Aggies allowed 154 yards on the ground (4.8 per carry) and 247 through the air, but they won the turnover battle 1-0 and played tough defense on their half of the field.

Junior signal-caller Diego Pavia led the way for the Aggies last Saturday, completing nine of his 14 passing attempts for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also had 11 totes for 96 yards. Junior running back Star Thomas posted ten carries for 54 yards and a TD, while sophomore wideout had three catches for 109 yards and two scores.

“Pavia played within himself,” New Mexico State associate head coach and offensive coordinator Tim Beck said. “He did a nice job of picking up some first downs with his legs every once in a while. They do such a good job of pressuring, bringing blitzes, stunts and twists and everything else you can imagine that it's pretty hard to handle but he did a pretty good job of handling it.”

New Mexico State ranks 55th in the country in passing yards (254.3 per game) and 24th in rushing yards (206.8). The Aggies average a staggering 6.2 yards per carry (tied-8th in the country).
