The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers will play Wednesday at American Family Field. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. CT.

Miami (74-70 SU and 66-78 RL) is starting left-hander Braxton Garrett. The 26-year-old is 8-6 with a 3.82 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP in 28 appearances (27 starts). The Fins recently lost both starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara (forearm) and designated hitter Jorge Soler (oblique injury) for their playoff push and possibly longer.

Milwaukee (80-63 SU and 69-74 RL) is expected to counter with right-hander Colin Rea. The 33-year-old is 5-5 with a 5.02 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in 22 outings (21 starts) this year. Left fielder Christian Yelich has missed the last three games with a back injury, leaving his status questionable for Wednesday.

Miami has won three consecutive series wins over the Phillies, Dodgers, and Nationals. Is it going to be enough to earn a Wild Card spot without Alcantara and Soler?

The Marlins average 4.08 runs (26th) and hit .258 (9th) with a .716 OPS (19th). They've hit 146 long balls (24th) and stolen 72 bases (26th) this season. The MIA pitching staff has posted a 4.25 ERA (16th) and a 1.29 WHIP (15th) with 47 quality starts (17th).

Garrett will take the hill for the visitors on Wednesday night in Milwaukee. The fourth-year pro is 5-2 with a 2.74 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP in 13 road starts this season. In his last outing, he only lasted 3.1 innings vs. LA, giving up one run on three hits and three walks. He was 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in six August appearances.
