The Cleveland Guardians' playoff hopes are on life support at this point following a 3-7 stretch of baseball heading into Tuesday night's game in San Francisco. Manager Terry Francona has already announced that he is unlikely to return next season so the organization will be heading in a new direction in 2024. The Guardians have lost three straight games following Monday night's 5-4 loss to the Giants in 10-innings. Cleveland led 4-3 after scoring one run in the top of the 10th but closer Emmanuel Clase allowed two in the bottom of the 10th to pick up his 9th loss of the season.

The Guardians will turn to rookie lefty Logan Allen in the series finale on Wednesday. Allen is 7-7 on the season in 22 starts including seven quality starts. He has allowed 114 hits in 117.1 innings pitched with an ERA of 3.68. His K/9 rate is 8.7 and his WHIP is 1.34. On the road, Allen is 5-3 in 11 starts with an ERA of 3.36 and 61 strikeouts in 56.1 innings pitched. In his last five games, Allen has gone 2-2 with an ERA of 4.15 while striking out 25 batters in 26 innings pitched.
