Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-4-2022

The New York Mets (85-49) will host the Washington Nationals (46-87) on Sunday in the final game of a three-game series. The Mets won the series opener 7-3 on Friday, but Washington won 7-1 on Saturday as a +355 underdog.

Patrick Corbin has had a terrible season for the Nationals, and last season was pretty bad for him as well. Nevertheless, Corbin put together his third straight solid outing on Saturday, allowing just three hits and one run in seven innings. The Nationals offense came alive late, scoring a run in the eighth with a home run off the bat of Lane Thomas, and five in the ninth, to seal the victory.

Another Nationals pitcher who has had a rough season will look for success on Sunday. Erick Fedde (5-9, 5.29 ERA) was rocked for six runs in 2.2 innings last Tuesday against the weak-hitting Oakland A's. On the year Fedde is 3-4 with a 5.32 ERA in 10 road starts. He is also 0-1 with an 11.37 ERA against the Mets this season.
