Texas was on the road in San Francisco Sunday afternoon looking to sweep their interleague series from the Giants. The Rangers prevailed 9-3 in the middle game of the set Saturday night. In the season series, the Angels own a 4-3 advantage, including taking three of four on the road June 12-15.

Los Angeles lost their second straight and ninth in the last 11 games as they were hammered by the Astros for the second straight day Saturday. The Angels fell to 58-60 on the season and entered Saturday fourth in the AL West, 12.5 games behind the Rangers for the top spot. They were 6.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the final wild card spot in the American League playoff picture. On Saturday, Los Angeles finished with just five hits with no player having more than one in the loss. Andrew Velasquez hit his second homer of the season in a losing effort for the Angels. Tyler Anderson (5-4) took the loss on the mound as he allowed seven runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work.
Patrick Sandoval is on the bump for the Angels as he logs his 17th start of the year in this contest. He comes in 6-8 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.368 WHIP, 46 walks and 92 strikeouts ove r 109.2 innings of work on the season. Sandoval didn’t factor in the decision in his last start, which came last Monday at home against the Giants. He threw 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in a game the Angels eventually dropped 8-3. In his last three starts, Sandoval is 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, seven walks and 15 strikeouts over 16.2 innings of work. Sandoval makes his seventh career appearance and sixth start against the Rangers in this contest. He is 1-2 with a 3.07 ERA, a 1.159 WHIP, 11 walks and 36 strikeouts over 29.1 innings of action in those outings. Sandoval is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA, a 1.091 WHIP, five walks and 11 strikeouts over 11 innings in two career starts at Globe Life Field.
