Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-3-2022

The Miami Marlins (55-75, 59-71 RL, 55-70-5 O/U) take on the Atlanta Braves (81-51, 68-64 RL, 66-58-8 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon. The Marlins will have Edward Cabrera on the hill. The Braves will reply with Jake Odorizzi. The Braves lead the season series 9-4.

Edward Cabrera will make his ninth outing of the season. Cabrera was clobbered in his latest effort, conceding six runs in 5.2 innings against the Dodgers, and was tagged with the loss to dip to 4-2 on the season. The talented young right-hander still features a stifling 1.91 ERA this month and has a 2.45 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP in 44 innings of work on the season. Cabrera sometimes has issues with his command, issuing 22 walks. This marks his first career meeting against the Braves.

The Marlins are stumbling. They have been dealt a ton of big injuries and continue to have issues scoring runs as a result. They lost three of four to the Dodgers last week followed by a two-game sweep by the Rays this week. Avisail Garcia and Jazz Chisholm Jr. are out.

Garrett Cooper has been stellar against the Braves this season, drivi ng in 10 runs along with a 1.1 OPS. The 31-year-old is one of the Marlins' top hitters, collecting 42 RBIs accompanied by a .730 OPS. Cooper is currently in a slump and recorded a poor .449 OPS in August.

The Marlins are scoring an average of 3.60 runs per game, ranking them 27th overall. The pitching staff has posted a 3.84 team ERA, placing them 15th in the big leagues.
