Thursday Betting Recaps

Thursday was a very light MLB betting slate with just five games as it was a travel day for the vast majority of teams, but there was a lot of sports betting action packed into that light schedule.

For starters, two of those games were a daytime doubleheader with the Angels sweeping the Tigers in Detroit with Shohei Ohtani pitching a 1-hit, complete-game shutout in the opener after the team said it’s not trading him.

Favorites went 4-1 with the Cubs the only underdog to win after opening as the chalk as some books. The Guardians also won as faves after opening as short dogs. And the Mets had to rally as huge favorites while waiting out a 1-hour, 37-minute rain delay.

Let’s get to our nightly MLB betting recaps that we post on Twitter @ViewFromVegas, and then update the season-long betting stats.

MLB: Favorites went 4-1 on Thursday, including Angels (-130 and -128) in 6-0 and 11-4 sweep at the Tigers. The Mets (-210) rallied to beat the Nationals 2-1 after a long rain delay. The only upset was by the Cubs (-102 in 10-3 rout at Cardinals). Road teams also went 4-1. Overs led 3-2.

More MLB: Favorites lead 872-631 on the season with 25 games closing pick-'em. Home teams lead 795-729 overall with 4 neutral-site games, though road teams have been cutting into the lead the past few weeks. Unders’ slim lead was cut to 739-726-62 with 1 no-action.
