Seattle closed a three-game series at home against the Blue Jays Sunday looking for a sweep. The Mariners picked up a 9-8 win Saturday in the middle game of the set. Minnesota closed out a three-game set with the White Sox gunning for a sweep at home Sunday afternoon. The Twins earned a 3-2 win in the middle game of the series Saturday night. These teams split a four-game series in Seattle in the first set this season July 17-20.

Seattle won their third straight and fifth in the last seven games as they rallied past the Blue Jays Saturday afternoon at home. The Mariners entered Sunday 50-48 on the season and stood third in the AL West, 7.5 games behind the Rangers for the top spot. They were 3.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the final wild card spot in the American League playoff picture. On Saturday, Seattle got two hits each from J.P. Crawford (run, two RBI), Cal Raleigh (two runs, two RBI) and Dylan Moore (two runs, RBI) in the win. Raleigh (his 13th and 14th of the year) went deep twice in the game while Moore (his second) and Julio Rodriguez (his 14th) each added homers of their own. Logan Gilbert didn’t factor in the decision as he threw five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Isaiah Campbell (1-0) earned the win as he allowed no runs on one hit with one walk and no strikeouts w hile recording the final out of the seventh. Justin Topa allowed one run on three hits with no walks and one strikeout in the ninth to record his second save.

Luis Castillo is on the mound for the Mariners as he logs his 21st start of the season in this contest. He comes in 6-7 with a 3.04 ERA, a 1.048 WHIP, 30 walks and 133 strikeouts over 118.1 innings of work this season. Castillo didn’t factor in the decision in his last start, which came at home against the Twins Wednesday. He threw six innings, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts in a game the Mariners ended up dropping 6-3. In his last three starts, Castillo is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, two walks and 19 strikeouts over 18 innings of work. Castillo makes his fifth career start against the Twins in this contest. He is 1-1 with a 6.88 ERA, a 1.706 WHIP, five walks and 22 strikeouts over 17 innings of work against them.
