The San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers wrap up their three-game weekend series in Detroit on Sunday afternoon's early Peacock TV game. The Padres and Tigers both appear to be teams that will be out of the playoffs in 2023 unless either can put together a hot streak in August. The pitching matchup on Sunday afternoon will feature Padres' righty Joe Musgrove (9-2, 3.16) while the Tigers have yet to name a starter for the matchup. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM EST.

The San Diego Padres know that what they do over the course of the next ten days could very well decide the fate of several veterans on the team. With a bloated payroll and an underperforming team, the Padres' management could certainly decide to be sellers at the trade deadline and look to save money and alter the lineup. San Diego has the roster that is capable of getting on an extended winning streak but they've failed to show that thus far this season. The Padres took the opener on Friday behind two home runs from Juan Soto, 5-4. On Saturday, Luis Campusano had four hits including a home run as the Padres routed the Tigers 14-3.
