The San Francisco Giants (55-44, 50-47 RL, 43-51-3 O/U) battle the Washington Nationals (39-58, 53-43 RL, 47-45-4 O/U) in the last of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon. The Giants will be sending Anthony DeSclafani to the mound. The Nationals will reply with MacKenzie Gore. The Nationals lead the season series 3-2.
Anthony DeSclafani will get the nod to conclude the series. DeSclafani made his return from the IL earlier this week and allowed four runs in only two innings against the Reds, managing to escape with a no-decision in a bout the Giants rallied to win. The veteran right-hander has struggled in three of his last four outings and has issued a 4.72 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP accompanied by a 4-8 record in 95.1 innings pitched. DeSclafani squandered five runs in seven innings against the Nationals earlier this season but has solid career numbers against them, posting a 2.95 ERA and a 4-2 record.
San Francisco is near the end of their longest road trip of the season. They opened the trek by earning a sweep against the Pirates and won two of four meetings against the Reds before this series. The squad has dipped to three games out of first in the division. They st and at 7-3 in their last ten games.

The Giants offense has not been producing in recent games due in part to J.D. Davis. The veteran slugger has issued a weak .621 OPS on the month and has 48 RBIs and a .786 OPS on the season. Davis is 4 for 14 with two RBIs against the Nationals this season. Brandon Crawford is on the IL.
The Giants are scoring an average of 4.60 runs per game, ranking them 13th. The pitching is their greatest strength, posting a 3.91 team ERA, placing them 10th.
