The Dodgers improved to 56-40 on the season and held a three-game lead over the Diamondbacks and Giants for the top spot in the NL West. On Friday night, Los Angeles finished with 13 hits as Freddie Freeman (three runs, three RBI), Will Smith (run, two RBI) and J.D. Martinez (three RBI) each had two. Freeman hit his 18th homer of the season in the win for the Dodgers. Tony Gonsolin didn’t factor in the decision as he threw five innings, allowing four runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Ryan Brasier (2-0) earned the win as he got the final two outs of the sixth inning, allowing no runs on no hits with one walk and no strikeouts.
