Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-2-2022

Seattle will try to extend its four-game winning streak when it travels to Cleveland on Friday night. The Mariners completed a sweep of Detroit on Thursday afternoon, picking up a 7-0 win. Cleveland was wrapping up its series against Baltimore on Thursday night, but this story was published prior to that game.

Seattle continues to get in a safer and safer place as far as its playoff position is concerned. The Mariners have only lost consecutive games once since the middle of August, and they have won 11 of their last 15 games overall. They took three out of four against Cleveland last weekend before sweeping Detroit on the road earlier this week. Seattle wrapped up that sweep with a dominant 7-0 victory on Thursday. The Mariners are 11 games back of Houston in the American League West, but they are four games ahead of Baltimore in the AL Wild Card standings.

They have not been a great offensive team this season, ranked No. 25 in batting average (.231). First baseman Ty France leads the way with 123 hits and a .284 average. Rookie center fielder Julio Rodriguez has 118 hits, while third baseman Eugenio Suarez has hit 25 home runs. Veteran right-hander Luis Castillo is in line to start for Seattle on Friday. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts in six strong innings against Cleveland last Saturday. Castillo gave up a solo home run to Jose Ramirez, but he was brilliant besides that. The 29-year-old has posted a 2.85 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 116.2 innings this season.
