Boise State vs. Oregon State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-3-2022

The Boise State Broncos (7-5, 7-5 ATS, 3-9 O/U) collide with the Oregon State Beavers (7-5, 7-5 ATS, 6-6 O/U) in a non-conference week one battle on Saturday evening. The Broncos went 7-5 last year and 6-3 in conference play. The Beavers logged a 7-5 record and a 5-4 mark in conference action. These foes last met in 2016 in a game Boise State won 38-24.

The Boise State Broncos are seeking a rebound after registering only seven wins. It was definitely a subpar year for their standards considering they are usually at the top of the MWC. They did win four of their last five games of 2021 and have plenty of returning players. They are the favorites to win the MWC Mountain Division based on the preseason poll.

Hank Bachmeier should have a big season. The senior QB accumulated 3079 passing yards accompanied by a 20:8 TD to INT ratio in 2021. He struggled late in the season and finished with a decent 62% completion efficiency. The Broncos have a strong RB in George Holani. The junior eclipsed 100 yards three times last season and collected 569 yards on the season.

The Broncos lost their best receiver in Khalil Shakir but have Stefan Cobbs ready for the spotlight. The senior WR brought in 421 yards last year and will improve on that number. The Broncos' offense was inconsistent last year but the talent is there to be much better this season.

The Boise State defense was a strength last year and if should be outstanding once again considering the number of returning players. They return almost the entire secondary. The pass defense landed 32nd while the rush defense was 78th overall.

Boise State averaged 29.2 points last season, ranking them 62nd overall. The defense limited foes to only 19 points, good for 12th in the FBS.
