New York Mets vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 6-10-2023

The Pittsburgh Pirates (33-29) will host the New York Mets (30-34) on Saturday. The Pirates smacked the Mets around for a seven-run victory on Friday.

The New York Mets are currently in fourth place in the National League East, trailing the first-place Atlanta Braves by 9.5 games, five behind the second-place Marlins, and 1.5 games behind the third-place Phillies. Being four games under .500 is a massive disappointment after 64 games for a team expected to be a contender in the National League. The Mets are going through tough times after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday 14-7 to the Pirates, in a game that was not even as close at the final score.

The Mets' struggles have come despite Pete Alonso having a solid start, leading the team with 22 home runs and 49 RBIs. However, he's now on the injured list with a sprained wrist. Francisco Lindor is on the team with 43 RBI but is batting just .222.  Brandon Nimmo is batting a team-best .283 and has five home runs and 25 RBI. As a team, the Mets are 15th scoring 4.6 runs per game, 20th with a .241 batting average, and 10th hitting 1.25 homers per contest.

The Mets will start Kodai Senga on Saturday. Senga is 5-3 with a 3.75 ERA this season. He has also struck out 73 batters in 57.2 innings. Senga has been excellent at home this season, but on the road, he is 2-2 with a 6.12 ERA. New York has won seven out of the 11 games started by Senga.
