Los Angeles snapped a four-game slide as they won the finale of their three-game series with the Reds on the road Thursday afternoon. The Dodgers entered Friday 36-27 on the year and stood second in the NL West, 1.5 games behind the Diamondbacks for the top spot. On Thursday, Los Angeles got four hits from David Peralta (two RBI) while Freddie Freeman (run, two RBI) and Chris Taylor (run, RBI) each added a pair to lead a 12-hit attack. Taylor hit his 10th homer of the season in the win for the Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw (8-4) was sharp as he picked up the win, throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Bobby Miller is on the mound for the Dodgers as he makes his fourth major league start in this contest. He is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA, a 0.765 WHIP, four walks and 16 strikeouts over 17 innings of work this season. Miller didn’t factor in the d ecision in his last start, which came Sunday at home against the Yankees. He threw six scoreless innings, allowing one hit with two walks and seven strikeouts in a game the Dodgers ended up dropping 4-1. In his fourth career major league start, Miller pitches against the Phillies for the first time. As a result, this marks his first career outing at Citizens Bank Park. Prior to being recalled, Miller was 1-1 with a 5.65 ERA, a 1.186 WHIP, six walks and 12 strikeouts over 14.1 innings of work in four starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City of the Pacific Coast League.
