Atlanta Braves vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-30-2023

Atlanta Braves (32-21) vs. Oakland Athletics (10-45)

The 2023 MLB season continues Tuesday, May 30, with the middle contest of a three-game series at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California, so we have prepared the best Braves vs. Athletics betting pick and odds.

Monday night’s opener has been excluded from this preview, and the Braves were looking for their 12th straight win against the Athletics. Atlanta is listed as a firm -235 moneyline fave for Tuesday’s battle, while the totals sit at 8.5 runs.

The Atlanta Braves have played in a shaky form lately, going 6-6 in their previous 12 games overall. Last Sunday, they routed the Philadelphia Phillies 11-4, splitting a four-game set at Truist Park in Atlanta. The Braves mustered 20 hits on the night, Matt Olson blasted a couple of home runs, while Spencer Strider fanned nine across six innings of a two-run ball.

Atlanta was tied with the LA Dodgers for the second-most home runs (89) in the majors on Monday. The Braves are slashing .279/.317/.505 with 11 round-trippers and 12 extra-base hits in the last seven days and 204 at-bats. During that span, Matt Olson, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna have slugged three dingers apiece.

Bryce Elder will toe the slab Tuesday in Oakland. The 24-year-old right-hander has been outstanding so far this season, posting a 3-0 record to go with a shiny 2.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 51/16 K/BB ratio across 58.1 innings pitched (ten starts). He hasn’t allowed more than two runs in five consecutive outings. Elder is now in the 43rd percentile in expected slugging percentile which isn’t great by any means, but Bryce’s slider (38.8% of usage) has a stellar minus-12 run value.
