New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-30-2022

Two teams who went from heading in opposite directions over the season, who have been heading in opposite directions recently, will play on Tuesday night when the New York Yankees (78-50) face the Los Angeles Angels (55-73) on the road for the second game in their three game series. This preview was written before Monday's series opener, but New York entered this series on a two game losing streak, whereas the Angels have won three in a row. Still the bottom line is, New York will be in the postseason, and the Angels will not.

The Yankees dominated the first half of the season, but since the All-Star break, they have a poor 14-22 record. The Yankees put together a five-game winning streak from August 21-26 but enter this series with consecutive losses, 3-2 and 4-1, as huge favorites over the Oakland A's. MVP candidate Aaron Judge leads the Yankees with 49 home runs and 109 RBI.

Despite the recent struggles, the Yankees still lead the AL East by 7.5 games ahead of the second place Rays. On the road, New York is 33-30, and on Tuesday they will send Jameson Taillon (12-4, 3.89 ERA) to the mound. Taillon is 6-2 with a 4.07 ERA on the road. New York lost three of his five starts in August and he posted a 4.55 ERA for the month.
