Edmonton Oilers vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-12-2023

The Edmonton Oilers face the Vegas Golden Knights in Game Five of the Second Round in a back-and-forth series. The Oilers won Game Two and Game Four to even up the series at two wins apiece. The Golden Knights won Game One and Game Three but lost the subsequent games and have kept the Oilers in the series as a result. The winner of Game Five will take a 3-2 series lead and move one win away from the Western Conference Final and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Oilers have tied up this series behind a potent offense, scoring 14 goals in the series with four goals in Game Four. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have scored eight goals and six assists to lead the top two lines but the entire offense has stepped up. Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Kailer Yamamoto have combined for one goal and 10 assists while defensemen Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm have added three goals and five assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 13 goals in the series. Bouchard and Ekholm have led the top two pairings but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing the Golden Knights to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Stuart Skinner has struggled in the series, allowing 11 goals on 113 shots.
