San Diego Padres vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-10-2023

San Diego Padres (18-17) vs. Minnesota Twins (19-16)

The MLB betting action continues Wednesday, May 10, 2023, with the interleague showdown from Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, so we bring you the best Padres vs. Twins betting pick, tips, and odds.

San Diego and Minnesota lock horns in the second of a three-game series, and Tuesday’s opener has been excluded from this preview. The Twins are slight -120 moneyline favorites for Wednesday’s clash, while the totals sit at 8.5 runs.

The San Diego Padres finished last week with two straight home losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a 5-2 victory in the opening clash of a three-game set against the Dodgers and a 2-1 defeat in the middle contest, the Padres blew a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth of Sunday’s closer. They eventually suffered a 5-2 loss in ten innings, recording their fifth defeat in 11 games.

The Padres are scoring 4.14 runs per game (23rd in the majors) on an underwhelming .233/.321/.396 slash line (.248/.321/.406 league average). Their offense is arguably one of the biggest disappointments of the season. The Padres are slashing .241/.348/.361 with three home runs and seven doubles in the last seven days and 133 at-bats.

San Diego is yielding 4.26 runs per game (12th). Seth Lugo will toe the rubber Wednesday at Target Field, and the 33-year-old right-hander is 3-2 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 31/8 K/BB ratio in six starts (33.2 innings pitched) in 2023. Lugo snapped his two-game skid last Wednesday. He tossed six innings of a one-run ball in a 7-1 victory to the Cincinnati Reds, scattering seven hits and a couple of walks while punching out five.
