The Miami Marlins (17-19, 12-24 RL, 15-19-2 O/U) battle the Arizona Diamondbacks (20-15, 20-15 RL, 18-15-2 O/U) in the three-game series finale on Wednesday afternoon. The Marlins send Edward Cabrera to the hill. The Diamondbacks counter with Merrill Kelly. The season series is 2-2.
The Marlins will have Edward Cabrera on the hill on Wednesday. Cabrera was solid in his latest outing, conceding three runs in five innings against the Cubs and racked up five K’s in a 4-1 loss to dip to 2-3 on the season. The talented young right-hander has great pitches but sometimes has issues with his command, walking 26 batters. Cabrera has registered a 4.78 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in 32 innings pitched. This marks his first career meeting against Arizona.
The Fish are stumbling. They have dropped two consecutive series. They were swept at home against the Braves and dropped two of three meetings against the Cubs on the weekend. The struggles are attributed to the same issue as in recent years, the poor offense. They scored eight runs in three games against the Cubs and only two in Monday's loss.

Jesus Sanchez has been the Marlins' best hitter recently, picking up six RBIs in his last six games. The 25-year-old has the potential to be an above-average hitter but has yet to produce with consistency. He has seven RBIs and a strong .820 OPS. Sanchez is 2 for 7 with one RBI against Arizona this season. Garrett Cooper is out of the lineup.
Miami is scoring an average of 3.28 runs per game, pegging them 30th. The pitching staff has recorded a 4.62 team ERA, placing them 21st.
