Astros vs Angels Prediction & Pick
Starting pitcher Hunter Brown gives the Astros a great shot at reversing their fortunes. The talented right-handed hurler has lived up to his preseason hype, going 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA with 36 strikeouts over 34 2/3 innings in six starts thus far. Furthermore, Houston has allowed two or fewer runs in four of Brown's last five starts.
Having said that, Patrick Sandoval has also been solid for the Angels. The 26-year-old southpaw already has half as many wins as he did in 27 starts last season, going 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in six 2023 appearances.
As great as Sandov al has been, though, he struggles going up against Houston. In seven career games (six starts) against the Astros, Sandoval owns an 0-4 record and an 8.03 ERA. With Dusty Baker's club dying for positive results, a matchup with the Los Angeles starter could be the medicine they need.
With the Angels also giving up 26 runs over their last two games, I see the Astros' capitalizing on the struggles while getting the better of Sandoval again.
Final Score Prediction:'Astros: 5 | Angels: 3
Astros vs Angels Best Bet
The Astros are probably salivating at the thought of facing Sandoval. After all, they scored an average of 6.7 runs in seven previous matchups against him, going over 4.5 runs five times over that stretch. With Los Angeles giving up an average of 9.3 runs in its last four home games, Houston's bats won't have any issues producing tonight.
