Los Angeles Dodgers (19-14) vs. San Diego Padres (18-15)
The MLB betting action goes on Sunday, May 7, 2023, with the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the San Diego Padres in the NL West showdown at Petco Park in San Diego, California, and the first pitch is set for 7:00 PM ET.
Los Angeles and San Diego close down a three-game set. The Padres won Friday’s opener 5-2 as slight moneyline dogs with a total of 7.5 runs, while Saturday’s middle clash has been excluded from this preview. Sunday’s closer is a pick ‘em contest with a total of 8.0 runs, so let’s take a closer look.
The Los Angeles Dodgers put an end to their six-game winning streak last Friday. After sweeping a pair of three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies at home, the Dodgers had high hopes for the opening game of the Padres series, but Clayton Kershaw had a bad day in the office. Kershaw yielded four earned runs on eight hits and a whopping five walks, serving up a couple of home runs to Fernando Tatis Jr.
The Dodgers mustered just four hits last Friday. They ranked fifth in the MLB in runs scored per game on Saturday (5.58), hitting .238/.331/.455 with 54 home runs, 66 extra-base hits, and 21 stolen bases across 33 games and 1,261 plate appearances.
The Dodgers selected the contract of RHP Wander Suero and optioned RHP Gavi n Stone.

Julio Urias will get the starting call Sunday, and the 26-year-old left-hander is 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 45/8 K/BB ratio in seven starts (39.2 innings pitched) in 2023. Urias has struggled through the second half of April but did manage to bounce back in his first outing in May. Last Tuesday, Urias tossed seven innings of a one-run, one-hit ball in a 13-1 dismantling of the Philadelphia Phillies. He fanned ten.
