The New Jersey Devils have officially advanced to the second round of the 2023 NHL Playoffs after outlasting the New York Rangers in a thrilling opening series. The No. 2 seed out of the Metropolitan Division now prepares for what is its first Eastern Conference semifinals appearance since 2 012.
Here's everything you need to know about the Devils' upcoming second round series.
When Do the Devils Play Next in the NHL Playoffs?
The Devils won't be waiting long for their next game, which takes place on Wednesday, May 3. This will be the first game of a best-of-seven series with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line.
Who Will the Devils Play in Round 2 of the Playoffs?
As the East's No. 2 seed out of the Metropolitan Division, New Jersey will face the No. 1 Carolina Hurricanes, who defeated the wild-card New York Islanders in six games.
The Devils' second-round matchup will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Carolina) hosts Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (New Jersey) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.
If the Devils beat the Hurricanes to advance, they would then head to the Eastern Conference Finals with a Stanley Cup Finals berth on the line.
