Florida Panthers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-2-2023

The Florida Panthers face the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Second Round after both teams had impressive series victories in the previous round. The Panthers trailed 3-1 to the Boston Bruins but battled back to win the series in seven games and pull off one of the greatest upsets in league history. The Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games and advanced to the Second Round for the first time since 2004. Both teams look to start the series out with a win and Game One should be a great one.

The Panthers completed the series comeback with their offense leading the way, scoring 26 goals in the series including 15 goals in the final three games. Matthew Tkachuk, Carter Verhaeghe, and Aleksander Barkov scored eight goals and 17 assists in the First Round but the entire offense stepped up. Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, and Eetu Luostarinen combined for nine goals and six assists while defensemen Brandon Montour and Gustav Forsling added six goals and five assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense hopes to improve after allowing 27 goals in the First Round. Montour, Forsling, and Aaron Ekblad have led the top two pairings but the rest of the unit has struggled and will need to improve if they hope to beat the Maple Leafs in the upcoming series. Additionally, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was awful in the First Round with a .891 sa ve percentage and a 3.94 goals-against average on 156 shots.
