Sunday signals a truly pivotal day in the opening round of the postseason. Every series sits at 2-1, so either the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers can even things up at two games apiece, or the Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, and Los Angeles Kings will push their opponent to the brink with a commanding 3-1 series lead.
With a buffet of bets to choose from on Sunday, I've decided to key on shots on goal, with a particular focus on the Stars-Wild, Bruins-Panthers, and Oilers-Kings clashes.

Sunday's NHL player prop picks
Although he's not known for making it rain frozen rubber, Benn has experienced an uptick in shot totals thus far in the postseason. After averaging 2.3 shots per game during the regular season, Benn is slinging three pucks on goal per contest against Minnesota, topping three-plus shots twice during the series.
With the Stars averaging 36 shots on goal as a team through three games, directing three-plus shots on goal is within Benn's reach Sunday night.
The odds here are floating anywhere between +105 to +120. DraftKings is on the high end of that range, make it definitely your book when backing Benn Over 2.5 shots.

Unsurprisingly, Bertuzzi has proven to be a brilliant pickup for the Bruins. Getting his first taste of the postseason, the former Red Wing has recorded four points in three games while plying his trade on Boston's second line.
Bertuzzi's production has been increasing lately after only averaging 2.14 shots per game during the 2022-23 campaign. He topped three-plus shots four times in his final 10 regular-season games, and twice through three playoff contests.

This one feels like a little bit of a no-brainer. Sure, you're not grabbing this at plus money, but it's a nice bet to atta ch to a parlay.
McDavid is absolutely tattooing Kings goaltender Joonas Korpisalo with frozen rubber. The NHL's best player is averaging six shots per game during the postseason, and his shot totals haven't dipped below four in seven straight contests (regular season and playoffs).

Sunday's NHL game picks
I expect a bounce-back outing from the Oilers. Despite a missed high-stick call potentially costing them Game 3, the Oilers have been the better overall team thus far, even if that hasn't shown up on the scoresheet.
Edmonton has been the superior club in Corsi for percentage, expected goals for, expected goals against, and expected goa ls for percentage. That doesn't always translate into results, but it's a good indicator the Oilers can turn things around.
The Oilers opened as a -160 favorite, with your best line coming at either DraftKings or theScoreBet (-155).
