It was a rough start for the Toronto Blue Jays this season, losing three of their first four games to kick of the 2023 campaign. The Jays bounced right back, however, and reeled off nine wins in 11 games including handing the Tampa Bay Rays their first two losses of the season. Since then, however, the Jays have hit another rut with three losses in four games heading into Yankee Stadium on Friday night. In the series opener with the Bombers, left-hander Yusei Kikuchi improved to 3-0 on the season with six innings of four-hit baseball, allowing just one run. Vlad Guerrero Jr. led the Jays with a home run and 2 RBI in the victory.

The Blue Jays will turn to 2022 All-Star Alek Manoah on Saturday vs. New York. Manoah has struggled to regain his all-star form to start the 2023 season. Manoah has failed to get out of the fifth inning in three of his four starts this season, including in each of his last two starts. Overall, he has allowed 23 hits in 19.1 innings and given up 15 earned runs including four home runs already this season. Manoah is 1-0 on the road this season, including a seven inning stint against the Royals in which he allowed just one hit without a run. Last year on the road, Manoah had an ERA of 2.07 on the road with a record of 9-3 in 16 starts. He was 1-1 against the Yankees with a 2.34 ERA in four starts.
