The Cincinnati Reds are on the road as they play the second game of a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday evening. In the opening game of the series Thursday night, it was Pittsburgh holding on for a 4-3 victory to draw first blood in the set. Cincinnati lost their third straight game as they fell short in the opening game of this series Thursday night. The Reds dropped to 7-12 on the year and entered Friday in the basement of the NL Central, seven games behind the Brewers for the top spot in the division. On Thursday night, Cincinnati fell behind 4-0 after one inning and their best efforts to get back in the game fell short. The Reds finished the game with eight hits with Jonathan India (run, RBI) leading the way with three in the contest. Luke Weaver (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he allowed four runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts over six innings of work.

Luis Cessa is slated to toe the slab for the Reds as he makes his fourth start of the season in this contest. He comes in 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA, a 2.75 WHIP, eight walks and three strikeouts over 12 innings of work this season. Cessa was roughed up as he took th e loss in his last start, which came against the Phillies at home Sunday. He threw three innings, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits with three walks and no strikeouts in a 14-3 Reds loss. Cessa makes his 10th career appearance and third start against the Pirates in this contest. He comes in 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.095 WHIP, five walks and 16 strikeouts over 21 innings of work. Cessa has no record with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.219 WHIP, three walks and four strikeouts over 10.2 innings in four career appearances, one start, at PNC Park.
