The Detroit Tigers have rebounded from a 2-9 start to win five of their last six games, including some in dramatic fashion. The Tigers head to Detroit after taking four of five games in their last homestand, including two of three over the Cleveland Guardians. The Tigers five-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday afternoon in a 3-2 loss to the Guardians. Starter Spencer Turnbull (1-3) allowed three runs o three hits in 5.1 innings. Turnball walked three and struck out three on the afternoon.

“He did a really good job, but I know he was frustrated to walk (Stephen)Kwan,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. “He's a guy who puts the ball in play, so you don't want to walk him. The inning really blew up from there.”

The Tigers will hand the ball to Michael Lorenzen to kick off the road trip. The veteran righty was ineffective in his only start this season. Lorenzen allowed eight hits in four innings and allowed six runs. He walked two and struck out six while giving up two home runs in an eventual 7-6 Tigers' win over the Giants. Last season, on the road, Lorenzen was 2-4 in nine starts on the road for the Angels. He had an ERA of 5.69 while allowing 46 hits in 49 innings. Lorenzen allowed six home runs on the road in 2022 as well.
