Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Diego Padres Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-14-2023

The Milwaukee Brewers (8-4, 7-5 RL, 5-7 O/U) collide with the San Diego Padres (7-6, 7-6 RL, 6-7 O/U) in the second of a four-game NL series on Friday evening. The Brewers give the starting nod to Freddy Peralta. The Padres send Michael Wacha to the bump. San Diego won last year's season series 4-3.

The Brewers will have Freddy Peralta on the mound. Peralta has shined in his two performances. He recorded six shutout innings against the Mets and followed by limiting the Cardinals to only one run in six innings last weekend, collecting the victory in each outing. The veteran posted a 2.81 ERA two years ago and could be on his way to posting a similar number this season if he can stay healthy. Peralta hasn’t seen a whole lot of the Padres, tossing 5.2 shutout innings in the lone career meeting.

Milwaukee continues to excel this season propelled by the dominant pitching. They have won all but one series this season including a sweep of the Mets. They dropped two of three road bouts against the Diamondbacks this week. The offense only scored 10 runs while limiting Arizona to just 11 runs. They stand at 3-3 on the road entering Friday night.

Brian Anderson is shining with his new squad. The former Miami Marlin struggled in 2022 but has rebounded this season. He is hitting .286 with three dingers, 11 RBIs, and a dazzling .981 OPS. Anderson wasn’t able to solve the Pirates last year, going 4 for 22 with only two RBIs.

Milwaukee is posting an average of 4.83 runs per game, ranking 13th. The pitching staff has been their top strength, amassing a 2.83 team ERA, good for fourth.
