Buffalo Sabres vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-6-2023

The Buffalo Sabres face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to end rocky seasons on a high note. The Sabres have a 37-32-7 record and have fallen a few points out of wild card position while the Red Wings have a 35-33-9 record but have won back-to-back games, leaving them an outside chance to make a push for the playoffs. Both teams are hoping to make a late-season playoff push and sneak in as a wild card and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Sabres have shown promise this year behind an offense that averages 3.55 goals per game with 10 goals in the last three games. Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and Alex Tuch have scored 112 goals and 123 assists to lead the top two lines but the entire offense has been great this year. Dylan Cozens, Casey Mittelstadt, and Victor Olofsson have combined for 65 goals and 85 assists while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added 18 goals and 81 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down this year, allowing 3.62 goals per game. Dahlin and Power have combined for 7.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Eric Comrie has struggled with a .886 save percentage and a 3.67 goals-against average on 594 shots wit h -11.1 goals saved above average.
