Boston dropped their second straight game to the Pirates in interleague action as they were unable to get any offense going at Fenway Park Tuesday night. The Red Sox entered Wednesday 2-3 on the season and were tied for fourth in the AL East standings, three games behind the Rays for the division lead. On Tuesday night, Boston finished with just four hits with Reese McGuire picking up two of them, both doubles. Alex Verdugo (run) and Justin Turner had the other hits while Masataka Yoshida drove in the lone run for the Red Sox. Nick Pivetta (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he threw five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
