San Antonio pulled a massive upset by beating the Kings in overtime as a 16-point underdog Sunday, a result that was lost in the shuffle of Portland’s win as a 19.5-point underdog. The Spurs entered Tuesday 20-58 on the season and stand fourth in the Southwest Division, 29 games behind the Grizzlies for the top spot. They have been eliminated from playoff contention, making them one of three Western Conference teams to suffer that fate. Against the Kings, San Antonio led by two after the opening quarter and by five at the half before the Kings rallied to force overtime. Leading by two midway through the extra session, the Spurs closed the game on an 8-2 run to earn the high-scoring win. San Antonio shot 53.1% from the floor, including 13 of 34 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 52-43 to offset 17 turnovers. Doug McDermott led the Spurs with 30 points, 22 of which came in the fourth quarter and overtime.

For the year, the Spurs are 24th in the league in scoring offense as they average 112.5 points per game on the year. The Spurs are 30th in the league in scoring defense as they give up an average of 122.8 points per game. Keldon Johnson leads the team with 22 points and five rebounds per game this season. Devin Vassell (18.5 points), Tre Jones (12.5 points, 6.4 assists) and Doug McDermott (10.3 points) each are valuable secondary options. Zach Collins (11.5 points, 6.3 boards), Keita Bates-Diop, Blake Wesley, Jeremy Sochan (11 points), Romeo Langford, Devonte’ Graham, Isaiah Roby, Khem Birch and Gorgui Dieng are other rotation pieces for coach Gregg Popovich. The Spurs are 22nd in threes per game as they connect on 11 triples a night while they are 25th in three-point percentage by shooting 34.4% from beyond the arc.

The Spurs had a lengthy injury report for Tuesday’s game. Bassey (knee) is likely out for the season after suffering a non-displaced fracture of his patella March 14 against Orlando. Birch (knee) hasn’t played since December 29 and has no timetable for return. Sochan (knee) has missed the last five games and is out indefinitely while Vassell (knee) has missed the last three. Both guys are expected to be out here. Johnson (foot) and Langford (adductor) are both doubtful while Collins (finger) is questionable. Watch for any updates.
