Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-4-2023

The Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals will be competing on Tuesday evening in the middle game of the three-game set inside of Busch Stadium. The Braves are 3-1 so far and are sending rookie southpaw Dylan Dodd to the mound for his MLB debut. The Cardinals are 2-2 right now and left-hander Steven Matz will get the start as he finished last year going 5-3 with a 5.25 ERA in 48 innings of work. In the first game, The Braves picked up an 8-4 win thanks to a five-run second inning.

The Atlanta Braves have been doing well offensively to begin the season as they are eighth in the majors with an .817 team OPS while scoring 5.75 runs per game. They also have been swinging well as they are tied for sixth in MLB with seven total home runs thus far. Right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr has been hitting extremely well as he has a 1.215 OPS with two home runs and four RBI with a stolen base and a caught stealing. This team should be able to hit well and need to do so to contend in a tough NL East division.

Dylan Dodd is the 13th-ranked prospect in the Atlanta Braves system and he has not pitched much in the minor leagues as in 30 games, he is 12-11 with a 3.87 ERA with more than a strikeout per inning pitched. He had an excellent Spr ing Training to get the fifth starter spot as he allowed four runs on 15 hits with four walks and 20 strikeouts in 18 innings during the exhibition period.
