The Minnesota Twins and the Miami Marlins get ready for game two of their inter-league series on Tuesday night in Miami. The Twins got off to a strong start this season, sweeping the Royals on the road over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Marlins struggled out of the gate, losing three of four to the Mets. The pitching matchup for Tuesday's matchup will feature right-hander Kenta Maeda (6-5, 4.66 ERA in 2022) of the Twins taking on the 2022 Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara (0-0, 4.76) of the Marlins, making his second start of the season. The Minnesota Twins had a strong start to the 2022 season, leading the AL Central Division heading into the All-Star Break. Unfortunately, the Twins couldn't complete the job and faltered in the second half due to injury and finished out of the playoffs. This offseason, the Twins added depth to the starting rotation by trading AL batting champion Luis Arraez to Miami for starter Pablo Lopez. The Twins also lost third baseman Gio Urshela but were able to add catcher Christian Vazquez, outfielder Joey Gallo, and infielder Kyle Farmer among others. The biggest move, however, might have been the re-signing of shortstop Carlos Correa after he had appeared to sign elsewhere on two different occasions. The Twins jumped out quickly this season with three straight wins in Kansas City, highlighted by a two-home run performance by Joey Gallo on Sunday. On Monday night, Max Kepler led off the game with a home run and the Twins rolled to an 11-1 win . Gallo stayed hot as well by belting his third home run in two days. Tyler Mahle went the first five innings and allowed just five hits and a run to pick up the win.

The Twins will turn to right-hander Maeda in game two of this series. Maeda won six games and lost five in 21 starts last year. He had an ERA of 4.66 while allowing 113 hits in 106.1 innings of work. Maeda struck out 113 while walking 32 batters in those 21 starts. Maeda has made 25 appearances, 24 starts, in the month of April in his career. He is 9-9 with an ERA of 4.48 in that time. He has thrown 128.2 innings in April and allowed 141 hits. Maeda has made five career starts against the Marlins, going 1-2 with an ERA of 2.28 in those starts.

Key Injuries: RF A. Kirilloff, SS J. Polanco, CF G. Celestino, SP J. Winder and RP R. Henriquez are all out.
