Washington Nationals vs. Mike Minor (6.44 ERA), Cincinnati Reds
The Nationals are not a team that I would back lightly, as they have a horrible roster that is composed of a bunch of scraps right now. It isn't that they don't have any talent, they do, but they are far from the team they were just a few years ago. It has been a painful l ast few seasons for Nats fans after winning the World Series what feels like a lifetime ago, but maybe this matchup with Cincinnati can bring them some happiness for a day.
The Reds are starting Mike Minor, who has been a regular on this article throughout the season. In his last start, he allowed five runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out one in 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Pirates. Wins have been hard to come by for Minor this season, but he got a ton of offensive support from the Reds and earned his first win since June 13 despite giving up five runs. He has given up at least four runs in four of his six starts since the All-Star break and has posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in 30.2 innings during that time.
