Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-2-2023

Baltimore (1-1) takes on Boston (1-1) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon from Fenway Park at 1:35pmET.

Left-hander Cole Irvin will face right-hander Tanner Houck on Sunday.

Baltimore took the first game against Boston 10-9, but nearly blew an 8-2 lead. They allowed five runs in eighth and ninth inning on Friday. They also committed two errors, but Felix Bautista got the tough-earned save. After getting up 7-0 against Chris Sale on Saturday, it looked as though the Orioles were going to cruise. Cedric Mullins hit a three-run homer, Ryan Mountcastle hit a two-run shot and Austin Hays added five hits including a solo shot. This time, the defense fell apart once again as Ryan McKenna dropped a fly ball that would have ended the game. Adam Duvall took advantage against Bautista and hit a two-run homer in the ninth to lead the Red Sox to the come-from-behind win 9-8.

The O's will send newcomer Cole Irvin to the mound. Irvin went 9-13 with Oakland last season and owned a 3.398 ERA. He allowed 174 hits and 256 homers in 181 innings with 128 strikeouts. The southpaw faced Boston just once in his career at hoe and allowed four runs (two earned) in seven innings.
