The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs resume their weekend series in Chicago on Saturday after a day off on Friday. The new-look Cubs shut out the Brewers 4-0 on Opening Day and will look to make it two straight wins on Saturday. The pitching matchup for Saturday will be right-hander Brandon Woodruff for the Brewers taking on Cubs' lefty Justin Steele. The opening pitch is scheduled for 2:20 PM EST.

The Milwaukee Brewers parted with some key pieces of its batting lineup this offseason and on Thursday afternoon, in the cold temperatures at Wrigley Field, the Brewers bats never were able to heat up. The Brewers were held to just four singles on the day and only threatened to score once. In the third inning, the Brewers loaded the bases with just one out but cleanup hitter Rowdy Tellez bounced into a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat. Former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes allowed four hits and three walks in five innings and picked up the loss.
“We put some runners on, but there wasn't many hits for both sides today,” Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said.

The Brewers now turn to right-hander Woodruff to even the series. Last season, Woodruff finished 13-4 in 27 starts with an EA of 3.05 ERA. In 19 career games in April, Woodruff has gone 7-2 with an ERA of 3.87 in 81.1 innings of work. He has allowed 67 hits and has a 10.51 K/9 ratio. Woodruff went 0-1 in three starts against the Cubs last season with an ERA of 5.28 and a K/9 ratio of 9.98. Woodruff went 5-4 in 14 starts on the road last season with an ERA of 4.10.
