San Antonio Spurs (19-57) vs. Golden State Warriors (40-37)

The 2022-23 NBA season goes on Friday, March 31, with the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference battle at Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The Warriors look to sweep their regular-season series against the Spurs for the first time since 1997, and the tip-off is set for 10:00 PM ET.

San Antonio misses Charles Bassey (knee), while Devin Vassell (knee), Keldon Johnson (foot), and Jeremy Sochan (knee) are all questionable to play. On the other side, Golden State is without Andrew Wiggins (personal) and Andre Iguodala (wrist).

The lowly San Antonio Spurs (19-57; 30-46 ATS) are on a five-game losing streak following Wednesday’s 128-117 home defeat to the Utah Jazz. After a horrible four-game road trip (losses at New Orleans 119-84, Milwaukee 130-94, Washington 136-124, and Boston 137-93), the Spurs failed to cover a 2-point spread in front of the home audience.

San Antonio shot 47.4% from the field (10-for-35 from deep) against Utah. The Spurs posted a strong 31/15 assist-to-turnover ratio, but their defense was awful once more, surrendering 70 points in the paint. Malaki Branham led the way for San Antonio with 21 points, while Tre Jones, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Devonte’ Graham accounted for 17 points apiece.

“It’s pretty much been like that all year, so we’re kin d of used to it,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “As long as they’re giving effort, they’re all learning. They’re making mistakes, but overall, that’s what we’re trying to do. No matter who’s out, no matter who’s not playing, other guys are happy to get minutes. So, trying to get to learn how to play is what this is all about.”

The Spurs are 14th in the Western Conference and hold the third-worst record in the NBA. They score 109.7 points per 100 possessions (29th in the league) and allow 119.9 points in return (30th). The Spurs’ defense ranks 29th in 2-point percentage (56.9%) and 30th in 3-point percentage (39.3%).
