Memphis, meanwhile, moved to three and a half games behind top-seeded Denver and just two games in front of third-seeded Sacramento. The Los Angeles Clippers are jockeying for potential home-court advantage in what appears to be a first-round series date with the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference playoffs. The task has been made more challenging for LA thanks to the recent knee injury suffered by star Paul George that will likely keep him out for the rest of the regular season. On Wednesday night, the Clippers picked up a much-needed road win over the Memphis Grizzlies 141-132. The win was made even more impressive because the Clippers' other star win, Kawhi Leonard, was forced to miss the game due to personal reasons. Russell Westbrook led the Clippers with a season-high 36 points as the former league MVP turned back the clock with his best performance as a Clipper. Robert Covington added a season-best 27 points and Bones Hyland chipped in with 20 as the Clippers pulled away with a 37-point fourth quarter to pick up the win.
“Just being composed,” Westbrook said about the difference down the stretch. “As a point guard, I was taught the last five or six minutes of the game were very important. Getting stops, getting good shots. We did a good job of executing down the stretch.”
Clippers got the dub.

The Clippers have now won eight of their last 11 games after suffering through a five-game losing streak a month ago. The once offensively-challenged Clippers have also become an effective scoring team with several new additions since the trade deadline, including Westbrook. After languishing near the bottom of the NBA standings in scoring offense this season, the Clippers are averaging 119 points per game during this 11-game stretch. This includes four games without George since his knee injury. LA is now 3-1 since George got hurt after going just 6-11 without him prior to this latest injury.
Key Injuries: George remains out while Marcus Morris Jr. and Leonard are listed as day-to-day.
