MLB pick today: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 over Detroit Tigers (-105), 3:10 pm ET
Taking the mound for the Rays to open the season is young lefty Shane McClanahan, who finished the 2022 season as one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. McClanahan finished last season with a 12-8 record and 2.54 ERA, absolutely lighting up the radar gun with high velocity that reaches triple digits along with 3 off-speed pitches to keep hitters off balance. He is also backed up by one of the best bullpens that should be able to limit this Tigers lineup for the entirety of the game.
On the other side, Eduardo Rodriguez gets the ball for Detroit after posting a 4.05 ERA last season across 17 starts, dealing with injury for parts of the season.
