The Washington Wizards' playoff hopes have taken a major hit down the stretch. Heading into Friday night's game vs. the Spurs, Washington has dropped seven of eight games. The woeful Spurs, however, were just the tonic that the Wizards needed to get back in the win column. Corey Kispert led the way with a career-high 26 points, including six 3pt field goals, and Deni Avdija chipped in with 21 points and 11 rebounds on the way to a 136-124 victory over San Antonio.  The Wizards played without Bradley Beal (knee) for the second straight game.

“Overall, I thought it was a terrific team effort,” Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “Corey's career-high was a plus, and we got tremendous output from our bench today, which was good to see.”

The Wizards' margin for error to make the playoffs is slim with just eight games left in the regular season. Washington is 22nd in the NBA in scoring offense this season. The Wizards are eighth in field goal percentage and just 19th in 3pt field goal percentage. The team is 16th in scoring defense, 11th in opposing team's field goal percentage, and 19th in 3pt defense. On the glass, Washington is 16th in total rebounding. The team is 17th in turnovers per game and just 29th in forced turnovers.

Key Injuries: Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma are day-to-day.
