The Ottawa Senators (33-27-4, 70 points, 4th Atlantic) are on the road Saturday when paying a visit to the West coast of Canada to play the Vancouver Canucks (27-32-5, 59 points, 6th Pacific). Ottawa defeated the Seattle Kraken 5-4 on Thursday night and has won six of the last seven with only a loss to Chicago thrown in. The Senators are 12 points behind third place in the Atlantic division which is the last automatic postseason berth in the division. Vancouver defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in their most recent outing and the Canucks have won three straight and four out of the last five but trail the third and final postseason qualifying spot in the Pacific Division by 21 points. Ottawa will play without Anton Forsberg, Josh Norris and Cam Talbot. Vancouver&#3 9;s list of injuries is far too long to put here but includes Ethan Bear, Tanner Pearson and Oliver Ekman-Larsson amongst others

Ottawa is scoring an average of 3.16 schools per game which is 17th in the NHL while averaging 33.3 shots per game which is 7th highest. Ottawa's power play is scoring 24.5% of the time the Senators have the man advantage which is fifth highest in the league. However, Ottawa is giving up too many goals, as the Senators are allowing an average of 3.16 goals which is also 17th in the NHL. Ottawa is allowing opponents to average 31.5 shots per game which is 19th. The Senators penalty kill unit is successfully holding opponents scoreless 83.1% of the time Ottawa is short-handed which is fifth best in hockey.

 

Ottawa's attack is led by Tim Stutzle who has a team high 31 goals, while  Claude Giroux is second in goals scored with 27 and Brady Tkachuk has scored 26. The leader in assists is Tkachuk with 40 and Giroux is second with 38. Stutzle is the points leader with 68 and Tkachuk has 66. Ottawa has scored 58 goals on the power play in 64 games. Two of Ottawa's goalies (Anton Forsberg and Cam Talbot ) are out injured and have appeared in 60 of the Senators 64 games. Therefore, Mads Sogaard has taken over the No. 1 goalie spot. The 22-year-old is 5-1-1 with a 2.94 goals against average and .899 save percentage.
