Philadelphia is 5-3-1 on the season in the second game of a back-to-back but based on the line movement throughout the day Tuesday, we can assume that the Sixers will be without a key piece or two, at minimum, when they take on the Timberwolves. For that reason, a spread bet just feels too volatile for this matchup.

But even assuming an absence for a star player like Joel Embiid and/or James Harden, the 76ers are still a force to be reckoned with offensively. The fifth-ranked offensive efficiency in the NBA didn't arrive at that ranking on the strength of one or two players. I could see a guy like guard Tyrese Maxey having a big night as Philly continues its scoring ways against a defense that allows the ninth-most points per home game in the league this season. The Timberwolves are surrendering 115 PPG at home.

Offensively, Minnesota ranks 10th in the league in home scoring at 117.1 PPG. I also like the Timberwolves to continue pouring on the points after their impressive road showing on Saturday in Sacramento where the T-Wolves dispatched the Kings 138-134.

If the attrition to the Sixers' roster due to load management is substantial, we could see the total drop before all is said and done. I'm happy to wager the Over 228, but I'm also willing to wait it out to see if we can get a better number closer to game time.
