These two teams closed the regular season slate against each other with Syracuse picking up a 72-63 home win to cover the line as a one-point favorite Saturday afternoon. Wake Forest struggled down the stretch, losing four of their final five games as they were beaten on the road by Syracuse Saturday. The Demon Deacons dropped to 18-13 overall and were 10-10 in the conference on the season. Against Syracuse, Wake Forest led by four eight minutes into the game before giving up a 16-1 run that left them down 25-14 with 7:56 to play in the opening half. The Demon Deacons trailed by 10 at the half and never got closer than three in the second half as they went down in defeat. Wake Forest shot 40% from the floor, including 10 of 39 from three-point range, and turned the ball over 16 times in the loss. Tyree Appleby led the Demon Deacons with 21 points, five rebounds and eight assists in a losing effort.

The Demon Deacons put up an average of 76.7 points per contest this season, which is 60th in the nation in scoring offense. Wake Forest grabs 34 rebounds per co ntest (233rd in the nation) while dishing out 13.3 assists a night. The Demon Deacons are a dismal 287th in the nation in scoring defense as they allow 73.8 points per contest. Tyree Appleby leads the Demon Deacons with 18.8 points and 6.3 assists per contest. Cameron Hildreth (12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds) and Damari Monsanto (13.3 points) each are averaging in double figures as well. Andrew Carr (10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds), Daivien Williamson, Matthew Marsh, Bobi Klintman, Davion Bradford and Zach Keller all have to contribute for Wake Forest to have success. The Demon Deacons shoot 46.2% from the field this season as a team. Wake Forest knocks down 9.5 triples a night while shooting 36.6% from beyond the arc. The Demon Deacons are above average at the free throw line as they hit 74.6% of their attempts at the stripe this season.
