The Big East Tournament opens on Wednesday and the final game of the day features the 7th seeded Villanova Wildcats facing off against the 11th seeded Georgetown Hoyas. The Wildcats are 16-15 overall and 10-10 in the Big East while the Hoyas are 7-24 overall and 2-18 in the Big East. Villanova won both head to head matchups this season, but they were 1-1 against the spread. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Georgetown Hoyas made some progress in 2022-23 as they actually won a game in the Big East. They actually won 2, as they finished the regular season at 7-24 overall and 2-18 in the conference. It may not sound like much. but they were winless in the Big East the previous season. They have been very competitive this season, taking some of the top teams in the league down to the wire.

But their last game of the season against Creighton was not Georgetown's finest moment. They got destroyed at Creighton 99-59 last season in the regular season finale. This was just a beatdown where Georgetown only shot 31% from the floor. Primo Spears led the Hoyas with 21 points. Spears averages 15.9 points per game this season while Brandon Murray scored 13.9 points per game. Georgetown averages 70.2 points per game and gives up 78.1 points per game.
